A Comptonization Model for Phase Lag Variability in Grs 1915+105
In this Letter we propose a simple thermal comptonization model to account for the observed properties of the phase lags associated to the “plateau” intervals of GRS 1915+105. By invoking a temperature stratification in a corona and assuming that the optical depth of the comptonizing region increases as the disk inner radius moves inward, we are able to reproduce both the observed colors and ti...
متن کاملA Simple Comptonization Model
We present a new empirical model of Comptonization for use in fitting the spectra of X-ray binaries. This model, SIMPL, has been developed as a package implemented in XSPEC. With only two free parameters, SIMPL is competitive as the simplest model of Compton scattering. Unlike other empirical models, such as the standard power-law model, SIMPL incorporates the basic physics of Compton scatterin...
متن کاملComplex Phase Lag Behaviors of the 0 . 5 – 10 Hz Qpos in Grs 1915 + 105
Through studying the hard lags between the soft (3.3 – 5.8 keV) and hard (13.0 – 41.0 keV) photons of the 0.5 – 10 Hz QPOs in GRS 1915+105, we have classified them into three types: 0.5 – 2.0 Hz QPOs, 2.0 – 4.5 Hz QPOs, and 4.5 – 10 Hz QPOs. They are closely related to different temporal and spectral states. The first type of QPOs (0.5 – 2 Hz) have positive hard lags at both the QPO fundamental...
متن کاملA ug 1 99 7 A unified model for the spectral variability in GRS 1915 + 105
We have analyzed the spectral variations of the superluminal black-hole X-ray binary GRS 1915+105 by using data obtained with the PCA on the Rossi XTE. We find that, despite the marked differences in the structure and the time scale of variability, all spectral changes can be attributed to the rapid disappearing of the inner region of an accretion disk, followed by a slower refilling of the emp...
متن کاملA mathematical model for three-phase-lag dipolar thermoelastic bodies
In this study we approach a mixed initial-boundary value problem to modeling a three-phase-lag dipolar thermoelastic body. The constitutive laws in this context are given. We establish a uniqueness result and prove a reciprocal theorem. The variational principle obtained in this context is a generalization of the known Gurtin's principle for classical elasticity.
